HARD ROCK CAFE OSAKA LIVE PICS UP

Last night's show at Hard Rock Cafe Osaka was the most intense of my recent shows. At least, that's what people told me afterward. My motto has always been to sing every song like it's my last. Maybe last night I just expressed it more dramatically than in previous shows. If I don't kick ass on stage, then I need to get my ass kicked, simple as that. I'm glad that everyone enjoyed the show. I want to thank everyone who came, and thanks to those who happened to be there but stayed to listen. I know I say "thank you" every time, but I really do mean it. It was a really nice night weather-wise, and you could have gone anywhere - you could have had a nice barbecue under the cherry blossom trees, or you could have stayed home and chilled watching TV after a long day at work. But you chose to take the time and money to come and see me and the band play. Just want you to know that I realize this, and how much I really appreciate it. THANK YOU. ♥

The acoustic shows last week at Hard Rock Cafe Osaka Universal were well-received. HRC staff even contributed hand-clap percussion on the acoustic version of "Osaka Boys"! Guitarist Masaaki Watanuki and I had a lot of fun, and laughed a lot, particularly when I dropped the shaker during "Funky Chick". All you can do in that situation is laugh and continue with the song. :) I want to thank the Kansai Music Conference, Hard Rock Cafe and particularly loyal fan Wakame-san for taking these great pics. HARD ROCK CAFE UNIVERSAL STARTS AT 18:30, NOT 20:00

COMING UP: HARD ROCK CAFE UNIVERSAL 3/22 & 3/23

This week will be my first gig at Hard Rock Cafe Osaka Universal. It will be acoustic, and it will be two straight days, Thursday the 22nd and Friday the 23rd. There will be 3 sets, beginning at 6:30pm. The guitarist is Masaaki Watanuki, my usual partner in crime. :) We'll be doing mostly rock and pop covers, mixed with some originals. Our repetoire is expanding! Check out our new covers. Hope you can make it!

TOKYO & YOKOHAMA MINI-TOUR

Wow. The last blog post was over two weeks ago! Sorry for keeping you waiting!

As you probably know, I went to Tokyo for the second time - at Ruby Room for the GoGirls 1st Anniversary Concert - and this time also went to Yokohama to do a gig, at 7th Avenue. And like my last trip, I decided to use the talents of Ken Kishi on guitar and Katsuya (NoLastName) on bass. It was a busy two days and nights, and again, I had a great time. I posted some photos on my Live Pics page, as well as my Facebook page, so be sure to check them out. Thanks to Ken, Katsuya, GoGirls Tokyo, Ruby Room, 7th Avenue and the headlining band Insf:el for making this mini-tour possible. As you know, my URL is davinarobinson.com. I have another URL, davina.jp, which I originally had as my Japanese language site, but now I have it directing to this .com site. I sometimes use it on flyers because it's short. But even with the short davina.jp URL, my name is a little hard for Japanese to remember/spell/pronounce. So I've come up with an easy-to-remember URL to access my site: naniwarock.com. "Naniwa" is a flower, and the former name of the city of Osaka (waaaaayyyyy back in the day). There is still a district named Naniwa, and there's a street in Osaka called Naniwa Boulevard (I live on it!). Cars registered within Osaka city have "Naniwa" license plates (those in the prefecture suburbs have "Osaka" plates). When Japanese hear the word "Naniwa", they know it's Osaka. So it's easy to remember and spell and pronounce. The naniwarock.com URL directs to this .com site. LIVE @ CLUB JUNGLE 12/25

Thanks to everyone who came to my "Cosplay Christmas" show at Jungle! It was difficult keeping a straight face singing tunes like "Monster" in my Mrs. Claus outfit, but I managed to keep it together. :) The costumes were hot, it was freezing outside, bassist Shinji had injured his back and could hardly stand, but we had a great time! I especially enjoyed doing the hard rock/heavy metal version of "All I Want For Christmas"!!! Thanks again.

On Wednesday night, in front of the lights that light up Osaka Castle, guitarist Masaaki Watanuki and I filmed our parts for the video for "Osaka Boys". Earlier, the day had been warm for winter, but that night, on top of the hill, it got pretty cold. I wore a jacket during filming, but Masaaki only wore a t-shirt, and he looked pretty cold, and I felt sorry for him. Despite the cold, filming was a lot of fun, thanks to director Trip Nixon and his wife & assistant Nacchan. Day 2 is coming and I really can't wait to see the finished product!

BLACK ROCK WARRIOR QUEEN RELEASED

Black Rock Warrior Queen is now in stores in Japan. I can't express how happy I am! The CD is being distributed by BSMF Records in Japan, and this little Osaka indies record company somehow got Tower Records to place my CD in the Listeners' Corner. Very excited, humbled and so very grateful. For those of you in Japan, the CD is available in-store at Tower Records branches Umeda Maru Biru, Namba, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Fukuoka, Sapporo Pivot and Yokohama Mores.
